Rise and Go

Chapter 17

On Sin, Faith, and Duty

“Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come.”

I believe that Jesus is saying that we humans are not perfect, and we will still fall short and sin; however, He said that it is better for us to sin on our own than  be the one who will cause our brothers and sisters to sin. Jesus says, “Watch Out”,  we shall be careful with our acts and deeds to benefit the people around us and not to harm them.

The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.

Our faith can move mountains; it can do anything in Jesus name. By my faith, I know I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Everyday, may I pray like the disciples asking God to increase my faith more and more.

10 So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’”

Someday, I know I will face God and  I am excited to hear Him say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”  Yes,  I may feel unworthy but Jesus said here that when we do our duty, answer and obey His call then it will be worth it.

Rise and Go

19 Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”

Jesus did affirm me how my faith can do great wonders, in the early verse He said it can command a mulberry tree, and now He said, my faith can make me well. Indeed, it is. I haven’t seen Jesus but I believe in Him and I claim healing under His name. He said, Rise and Go.” I believe Jesus is saying that as faith moves in us, we will let it rise and we will go proclaiming His glory until this faith rises more and more and until His glory go and grows within.

On the Kingdom and Life

“The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, 21 nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is within you.”

I remember of the verse that says some of us does not need to die to see the Kingdom of God, and the message of God for me at that time was to keep Heaven inside my heart. Then Jesus said these words too, I am more than affirmed that the Kingdom of God is within me, I shall let it live and consumes me, for I know that in this Kingdom dwells  a King – the King of all Kings.

33 Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it.

I believe Jesus was just telling that to live a life with Him means denying ourselves and embracing the life that we have been called. We can be like Lot’s wife who cannot let go of the life that she had and so she perish or we can be like Jesus who loses His life for us to live. I  believe Baptism is also the same as this – death to sins or the life that we want and resurrection in Christ and living in His life.

There is more to life than the present life that we live, we can never experience that wonderful life if we do not die in this present life. An eternal life with Jesus is much better than a thousand counted days here on Earth.
