A personal reflection on Psalm 19
Who does not want to live a life with a revived soul; to live a simple but wise life with radiant eyes, a joyful heart, and a certain future; to be loved with a pure and enduring love; to be considered precious, even more precious than gold; to live all our days with sweetness, even sweeter than honey; to have daily great rewards; and to be called righteous?
The psalmist David, in all his grandeurs, considers only one source and cause of all the beautiful things that this life has to offer – God.
Only God can give the life that we desire; a life that can surpass even our greatest dreams, ambitions, and imaginations. He gives the fullness of life in Christ Jesus.
“Even the heavens declare the glory of God; and the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” – Psalm 19:1
King David also compares God’s goodness to His creation – the sun.
4 In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. 6 It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth
God’s love and greatness doesn’t set off; it is always here, ever present. We may consider it hidden as the night came upon us, but God gives us the moon to give light, a hope for us to hold on, to endure, and to wait patiently until the breaking of the dawn.
God’s goodness never fails as long as the sun rises every day, and as long as we keep His laws and obey His commands, there is great reward as it is written (Psalm 19:11).
