Like a Sausage: Short but Meaty

A month ago, our youth pastor asked me to share the word for the Tithes and Offering; and after  saying Yes,  a month has passed I almost forget the task that I only have a week to ask God for the word to share for a 1-minute sharing. I was praying already for a verse from Proverbs when two days before my sharing as I was praying to God for the word that I am going to share while worshiping in my room via YouTube, I came across this Psalm.

I opened my Bible and read this very short Psalm; and I believe this is what God wants me to share to the youth. This Psalm is about thanksgiving and worship, and for me, these words are a message to honor God with everything.

My short but meaty sharing (as per the description of my friend) of how this Psalm reached me:

“As the music stops playing, it doesn’t mean that our worship ends as well.

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
    Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving

   and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Isn’t it amazing to know that His love never fails and it endures? Isn’t great to know that God’s love never fails? Isn’t it great to know that even if the world may call our generation as the generation Y, yet God sees us as His worshiping generation? And as we give our tithes and offerings, shout and sing praises to God, it is as if saying that in ALL things that we do and in ALL things that we have, we will worship the Lord.”

I only had just a minute to share God’s word, but I believe it doesn’t end there, it can’t be contained with songs and giving because for me everything that we do is ought to be an act of worship to the Lord.

Three reasons I can share why we ought to worship God are contained in just 1 verse:

Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Know that the Lord is God – He exists before all, after all, and above all. He is BIG.

Know that it is He who made us – He created us to be His people, His children in His own image and likeness

Know that we are the sheep under His pasture – He will do anything for us more than a father can do for his children

Understanding that the Lord is bigger than anything, that He created us, and that we belong to Him, surely, these are just few of the reasons that can never stop us from worshiping Him more.
