15 “Nothing outside a man can make him ‘unclean’ by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that makes him unclean. 19 For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body. 20 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come. 23 All these evils come from inside and make a man ‘unclean’.”
I already shared in my notes in Luke how I hate to wash the dishes, especially cleaning the glasses for I have to exert effort in reaching the bottom part just to make it clean. I believe Jesus is saying that just like cleaning the bottom of the glasses, I should do it to myself as well – in my thoughts, my acts, and my heart. If the glass is still unclean then all the water poured on it will be unclean, but if the bottom of the glass is clean then the pure water poured on it will remain pure. I believe God is telling us that in order for us to remain useful and clean, let us check the bottom of our minds and hearts for only through it, we can remain pure.
Lord, thank You for reminding me to persevere more to cleanse my inside, my heart, my thoughts, my actions, and even my motives that whatever comes out from me is clean and pleasing. Lord, I pray that all the things that fills me will be pure so that when I let it out, it is still pure. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
