My Ransom

Chapter 10

45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

A kidnapper won’t risk his life just to have a small amount of ransom, they always ask for a big amount. I believe Jesus is saying that His life is the ransom He willingly paid for me. His life is too much, yet it is true that there is no greater love than to lay down your life for someone you love. Jesus loves me so much (tears) that He will do  and give everything just to save me.

Lord, thank You for Your love that is not measurable and unconditional. Thank You for Jesus who gave His life just for me to be with You again. I can never say thank You enough so let me live my life feeling Your love giving praises to You all the days of my life.

Everything is Possible

Chapter 9

23 “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” 24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

Jesus can! Just believe. This is God’ s message of reassurance that I shall not doubt His capabilities for He is more than able. He can do all things, all He is asking is for us to believe.

Lord, I believe in You; and like the father of the possessed boy, may I overcome my unbelief if ever my faith fails. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

Never Hungry

Chapter 8

I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat.

Jesus is a God of compassion. He cares. He feeds those who are hungry. He heals the sick. Indeed, Jesus is more than enough. I believe, God is telling me that no matter what happens, with Jesus I will never be hungry. If God provides the food for the birds in the sky without them asking Him, what more a human being like me, who walks and believe in Jesus. God provides and He sustains.

Lord, thank You for Your compassion that never fails. Remind me Oh God that when I feel hungry, I have Jesus who will satisfy me and will make me wanting nothing; for with Him, I am more than full. Amen.

Out and Unclean

Chapter 7

15 Nothing outside a man can make him ‘unclean’  by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person  that makes him unclean.   19 For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body. 20 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come. 23 All these evils come from inside and make a man ‘unclean’.”

I already shared in my notes in Luke how I hate to wash the dishes, especially cleaning the glasses for I have to exert effort in reaching the bottom part just to make it clean. I believe Jesus is saying that just like cleaning the bottom of the glasses, I should do it to myself as well – in my thoughts, my acts, and my heart. If the glass is still unclean then all the water poured on it will be unclean, but if the bottom of the glass is clean then the pure water poured on it will remain pure. I believe God is telling us that in order for us to remain useful and clean, let us check the bottom of our minds and hearts for only through it, we can remain pure.

Lord, thank You for reminding me to persevere more to cleanse my inside, my heart, my thoughts, my actions, and even my motives that whatever comes out from me is clean and pleasing. Lord, I pray that all the things that fills me will be pure so that when I let it out, it is still pure. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

Her thoughts are my lessons.

Okay, I’m turning 23 next month, but I’m humble enough to say that I’m learning from the thoughts of a girl who is 10 years younger than me.

This reminds me of Paul’s letter, “ Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers… ”  I may be old enough by age, but it doesn’t mean that I can learn on my own or just with the people older than me instead I can learn and be moved by even those who are younger. They say, “wisdom comes with age,” but I believe, wisdom only comes from God.  And I’m grateful to be surrounded with young girls who have God-given wisdom.

One of the girls who inspires me said that she just writes her random thoughts and so I thank her for thinking because if she did stop thinking then I won’t learn the following things. Allow me to quote her thoughts that  have taught me lessons.

Disclaimer: The quoted lines below aren’t mine, its from a girl named Elise (a cute thinker and writer), so this isn’t plagiarism. To fully read her thoughts (blogs) , click here.

We should be careful at what we’re listening to. Remember that all songs have different messages and different meanings. Just because it SOUNDS nice, doesn’t mean the lyrics are nice.

Challenging is something that you CAN do. Impossible is something you can’t do.

I think goals could really be a help to us all. If there was no goal, why are you doing what you are doing?”

I can only start little, but it will increase. I don’t know how long it will take, but I’m not gonna give up.

I hope you never stop writing your thoughts as you said it matters; and for me, it really does. Thanks for inspiring. I pray that God will use your thoughts and your music more to bring glory to Him as it touches lives.

Come and Rest

Chapter 6

31  He said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”

Jesus calls us to rest with Him. Indeed, the Lord knows our needs and only with Him, we can have it. Jesus knows how tired and burdensome we are, He can feel it too. This is a message that says, I can always find rest in Jesus.

Lord, thank You for You know Your people very well, You know our needs and desires, and thank You for with You we can always have what we want. When I’m tired and weak, remind me Oh God that only in You I can find rest.

A Love Story

There are so many love stories

Some are featured in movies,

Others are written, read, and admired

While others aren’t even desired,

Some stories have tragic beginnings

But have happy endings,

Others have a beautiful start

But have a painful depart,

Love stories have different characters

Some have rich and poor lovers,

Others are best of friends

Who turns lovers in the end,

My love story was not like Sleeping Beauty’s

Who  fell in love  as she was save with a kiss,

It wasn’t like Cinderella’s who lost her shoe

And found a love that was true,

Our love story is not written in publications

But it is a masterpiece in Gods’ creations,

Ours was not just a simple love  story

For God wrote it for His greater glory,

My prince and I were  once strangers

But we are both faithful characters,

To a story that started with our friendship

That grows and endures in His Lordship,

This is a love story that to the world I can scream

That happy endings doesn’t just happen in dreams,

It exist as I obeyed my father, the King

Who send His prince to give my finger the ring,

God prepares our hearts to be the best

Characters that are faithful and finest,

In His love story that hasn’t started yet

For my prince and I  haven’t met.

This poem was written on May 10, 2009. Inspired by my  crush whom I haven’t met personally, I just saw him worshiping with me in Cebu last April 2009.  I’m so glad to recover this poem for it reminded me that I used to be a poet. I already throw all  the poems I have written since my childhood for some reasons, but I’m happy that my old laptop saved some; and this one gives me the carbon dioxide to resuscitate the almost-dead poet in me.
