Last weekend, I headed south alone to Calamba, Laguna where I’ve seen my beloved trees and clear blue skies that made me felt kilig evermore. Upon reaching my destination, one girl sang Brooke Fraser’s song, Love is waiting, and it made me remember my ever admired King David and the man I will spend the rest of my life with; for just like King David, he is a worshiper.
I’ll be writing about this worshiper soon, but first let me share to you my very first song/poem for my musician husband-to-be. Allow me to share here a poem I based on the Love is waiting song. I have edited the song’s lyrics to make it a more personal poem, but you can listen to Brooke Fraser’s song below.
Another December on the ground
between the traffic and the Christmas sounds,
I am thinking signs and seasons
and hold on to God for reasons,
I watch as lovers pass me by
walking stories of who’s, how’s and whys,
I’ll give it time, give it space and be still for a spell
when it’s time to walk that way, we will walk it well,
I’ll be waiting for you baby
I’ll be happy preparing to be your best lady,
I’ll be holding back the darkest night
Love is waiting until we’re ready, until it’s right,
It’s my caution not the cold
there’s no other hand that I would rather hold,
The climate changes but I’m still writing for strangers about you
and how I’m glad to have a love that is so true,
Don’t keep watching the time, you can slow the pace
I know, we will be together in this race,
Just hold on, I know you can
I am sure now, that you’re my man,
I could write a million songs about the way you say my name
and let you sing it for God’s fame,
I could live a lifetime with you and then do it all again
I would still choose you out of a million different men,
Like the way I can’t force the sun to rise or hasten summer’s start,
neither should I rush my way into your heart,
I will be writing, traveling, reading, go hiking and diving
until I do these things with you, my Love is patiently waiting.
Love is patient. – 1 Corinthians 13:4
