Who is God? (Part III)

This is the last installment of my compiled Facebook timeline posts for the month of June 2012. You can visit the Part I for the reasons why I created these posts, and you can also check out the 2nd installment here.

Today, God reminded me that He is the SUSTAINER.

“You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the raven to feed you there.” – 1 Kings 17: 4

Elijah didn’t beg for food but the ravens fed him because God provided for him. This verse reminded me that it never reach a point that I beg food from my mom, she just gives me all I need because I am her daughter. How much more God, our father in heaven? He is our provider, the Jehovah Jireh. We don’t need to beg. We just have to worship Him not just to ask but to claim that He has provided.

Lord, I thank you that I don’t need to be a beggar for I am a princess in your eyes. Thank you Lord for being my Sustaining King.

Today, God revealed Himself to me as the UNDEFEATED COMPETITOR.

“Then you call on the name of your God, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The God who answers by fire – he is God.” – 1 Kings 18:24

This is the very first time I have encountered this verse from the Bible, though I have been into Bible studies since I was 3, God never fails to continuously reveal His “Awesomeness” to me, daily. Today, I was so amazed in this story about Elijah when he competed with the gods of the people of Ahab, in the name of his God. Indeed only ours and Elijah’s God prevailed because there is no other gods but Him. He never lose in any battles nor competitions, for He is a God of victory.

Today, God revealed Himself to me as the SILENT WHISPERER.

“After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.” – 1 Kings 19: 12

People talk in whispers when gossiping, when the topic is confidential, or when in places wherein it is not allowed to talk in normal voices like in the librarY. We have different reasons why we speak discreetly.

I, myself, loved to talk in whispers with close friends when we talk about our lives, secrets, and plans. But today, God revealed himself to me as someone who also speaks in whisper. With this, I felt so excited to listen to that still small voice of God. I’m so thrilled about the words that He will be going to say to me, be it a command, a reprimand, or His plans and purposes, or whatever it is. I’m just sooooo excited. And so my prayer is that I may be able to distinguish His whisper from the noise of this world.

Today, God revealed Himself to me as the ORCHESTRATOR OF PERFECT HAPPINESS.

Jews got relief from their enemies, and … their sorrow was turned into joy and their mourning into a day of celebration.” – Esther 9:22

I used to be a cry-baby. People say I’m tough, but I easily cry. This past few months, I found myself asking God for tears. Why? Because I can’t cry. Before, I used to cry to let go of the sadness, the hurts, disappointments, and burdens; but when I knelt at the cross, I can’t cry anymore. I asked my sisters if I’m still normal that no matter how hurt I am, I can’t cry. They just say, “Di bagay sa’yo umiyak.” Then God reminded me that I used to cry because I’m weak, but now that I surrendered everything to Him, it is not me anymore but Him. I am now overjoyed by His presence, His message, His comfort, and His love.

Today, God revealed Himself to me as the HOLDER OF SATAN’S REINS.

“The Lord said to Satan, ‘Very well, then, everything he has in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.’ Then Satan went out to the presence of the Lord.” – Job 1: 12

I super love Job, for he is one of my favorite characters in the Bible and as I read his story again today, this verse did made me smile. How come Satan spare Job’s life? Well, Satan obeyed God. Funny, but he did not touch Job’s life because God said so. Indeed, God has power over Satan. But then another thought came to me, if Satan (the most evil and disobedient being) was able to do what God said, what more us, the children of God? God holds and owns everything. If we only recognize His authority and His greatness in our lives, then it would be easy to obey.

Today, God reminded me that He is a REWARDER OF THE FAITHFULS.

“The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the first.” – Job 42: 12

God allowed Satan to take away all the possessions of Job, his everything, but Job kept his faith. Job questioned God, but in his questionings, he honors God. I always say that I am afraid to experience what God did to Job, but God reminds me that when He takes something away it is because He will surely give more. In nothingness, Job kept his faith. And in his faith, he receives everything.

If God is with me, I will never have nothing; because God is my everything. ♥

Today, God reminded me that He is my REFUGE.

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.” – Psalm 18: 2

When I was a little girl, every time Mamang scolds me, I usually go under my bed and cry myself to sleep. As I was growing up, I hid myself under my blanket and cry. When a friend of mine died, as I was traveling home, I couldn’t help myself but cry inside the bus. I only had my jacket with me that time so I covered my face with my jacket and cried so hard.

But today, God reminded me that He is my refuge, the one who comforts me better than my bed and blankets. With this, I know I can cry and seek refuge anytime; because He is with me whenever and wherever.

June 28, 2012

Today, God reminded me that He is my SHEPHERD.

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” -Psalm 23:1,6

I could not ask for more, His love is more than enough. A shepherd won’t lead the sheep into harm, he always leads them to the green pasture. A sheep is only lost when they lose sight of the shepherd, but fixing my eyes on the shepherd and following his path, I know I’m on the right track.

And so I sing, “Where you go, I’ll go. Where you’ll stay, I’ll stay. When you, I’ll move. I will follow.”

Today, God revealed Himself to me as the COUTURIER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.

“For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness…” – Isaiah 61: 10

As a girl I always love dresses and accessories. It takes a week for me to decide what to wear on events or even just for my daily outfit. But today God reminded me that He has given me something to wear every day and that is the garments of salvation and robe of righteousness in Christ. With this, I don’t have to worry about what others will say about my attire, for it is God who gave these things to me. This outfit can never be found in lookbook or any fashion magazines but in Christ Jesus alone.

Today, God reminded me that He is the SOURCE OF ETERNAL LIFE.

“God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3: 16

This verse is already planted in my brain since I was in grade school, this has been one of the most famous verse in the Bible, and so God reminded me of this verse today, saying even if the decay rate algorithm of Spiderman exist, He is still the only one who could me a life that is never ending in Christ. Christ is the greatest equation, in Him I was transformed in His image and likeness, not into a giant lizard but into a princess, the daughter of the King of Kings.

I hope you learn from my Facebook timeline posts, and be inspired to make your Facebook posts worth to be liked by your grandkids.
