Apples of your Eyes!

I opened my Facebook and Twitter accounts, and ladies all over are talking about this handsome guy, Mario Maurer. I do like him, but I won’t talk about him that much. Why? Is he worth it? Worth the time? Worth to stare at for more than 5 seconds? I can already read 3 verses in that span of time or chat with my cute little brothers.

Cutie check: Have you given time to check your siblings or your parents FB status or ask them how they are personally? Or you spend too much time checking over the cute guys in the web?

These boys, Oh I love their voices! But to follow all their whereabouts and even tweets, I can’t. Why? I don’t even have enough time to sing praises to The One Way,  so I’d rather sing to Him than with these One Direction guys.

Music check: When was the last time you sing a worship song to God and how long? Or do you sing the direction songs too much?

Katy and Taylor! They are so beautiful and talented. They write songs and sing well. Things that  should be admired in a lady, and that is why I don’t spend much time watching their MTVs, if I watched it once then that’s enough, I also have talents to be honed and practiced.  Following the way they dress and act can already consume time – time that should be well spent doing things that can help one self become better and not just a better fan, impersonator, or  idolater.

Talent check: Do you have talents or creative ideas? How do you please your Creator? Do you please the One who gives your talent? Or you spend so much time copying the styles and talents of your favorite celebrity?

The latest iPhone5 or iPad mini truly from Apple, but are they the apple of your eye as well that you desire them too much than anything? And if you already have them, you spend much time holding it, configuring it, and using it as if it is the only best thing in the world.

Gadget check: What is the best thing/companion in the world? Your iPhone5? Or your family, your friends, and Jesus?

Make-ups, Shoes, Bags, Dresses! They are so lovable! Yes, I’m a lady, and I love those things too. I even save my allowance just to buy these things. But, in all honesty, it doesn’t consume much of my allowance. I make sure that my allowance is spent more wisely than any outward adornment. I make sure that I gave to God what is due to Him first before buying these things.

Budget check: Have you gave to God or treat your parents? Or your closet received it all?

Books and Movies! Things that I vowed to spend time with once a month.

I’m a self-confessed bookworm and a cinema-goer, but I do make sure that what I read and watch is a good one; and when I say good, it means it won’t cause me harm, it won’t make me feel bad, it won’t make me think bad, it won’t make me sin.

Movies are so-not-real, so don’t live in it. I do love fantasy movies, but I don’t act like what the characters portray. Why? Because I live in the real world. If you act like what you have watched then what will you be, a 17-year-old young lady who sacrificed everything for the love  of her life? Oh C’mon!

Book  and movie review: Have you spend so much time reading your Bible? Or with a good and popular book/movie that caused you to think lustfully or sinfully?

Remember: What your eyes see goes to your brain, your brain process it, and then emotions, actions, and words come in. When you say, “guard your heart”, it means you guard your senses especially your eyes, for what it sees goes to your heart.

If you think too much of your crush, your boyfriend, a thing, or whatever, it will come out even in your dreams, it can work with you even unconsciously, and it can even be a weapon of the enemy to input lies to harm you.

Protect your eyes and check your heart! I always love to check my heart because I see the wrongs and good things growing inside me, but most importantly, I check my time if I consumed it wisely and my pocket if I spend wisely.

Reality check: What are the apples of your eye?  How do you spend your 24 hours and monthly budget? What consumes your thoughts?

Bible check:

Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye. – Proverbs 7:2

Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings. – Psalm 17:8

God is asking us to have Him as the apple of our eyes.

How to start?

Here’s my tip:  Fix your eyes on Jesus – the author and perfecter of faith (Hebrews 12:2).
